Bio & Dates
This soul-edged jazz/folk/rockin'country singer-songwriteroriginally from Kentucky now resides in Virginia. She has played venues in over 16 states in the US as well as abroad in England, Monte Carlo and Norway. Her songwriting has taken her to Kerrville, Texas as a Newfolk Finalist in '94 and '95 and on to win The W.B. Stevens/Townes Van Zant award in '97 . Leslie has written & produces five discs and recorded one with 17 Jazz/Standards While in Texas she opened for the duo,Heart at The Caravan of Dreams in Fort worth as well as Asleep At The Wheel & Willie Nelson in a benefit concert she promoted on Good Day Dallas & Good Morning Texas broadcasts which raised $35K for Lancaster, Texas, a tornado-stricken town near Dallas; inspiring her song, Twister Alley. She and co-writer, Ray Roberts, conceived Amber Alert and wrote another tribute song, Not MyChild, dedicated to victim, Amber Haggerman. Her latest collaboration with Roberts, "Virginia Where Heaven Touches Earth" was considered by the Virginia House of Delegates (Bill #988) as the new State song. She was interviewed on Studio Virginia , WVTF, public radio, playing the ballad and other original works in Feb of 2008. Leslie has raised awareness and funds for the Preservation of StadiumWoods by performing benefit concerts and penning the tributeWhat On God's Green EarthAre They Thinking? She recently re-crafted the lyrics of For Heaven's Sake to perform at rallies opposing pipeline & fracking in the New River Valley. This song is included on Leslie's disc, My Guitar, a compilation of self-penned tunes from the Hard To Hide sessions in Dallas along with a bluegrass song co-written with John LaRocco titled, All AlongThe Crooked Road, recorded in Beckly WVa at Elmridge Studio with Dan Bailey.Then in 2013, she teamed up with Bailey and Pianist/Symphonic Arranger, John Yurick and released a festive 10-song Christmas disc entitledI Remember December, written and produced with friend and writer, Lanae Hall. They released a Youtube video of the title cut with more to follow in December '16. The pair re-crafted one of the tunes in February and released the playful jazz & blues song, Oh How I Miss My Valentine, earning them airplay throughout the region.
